In their attempt to highlight the water and sewage treatment issues, The Olympia Grande Apartment Owners Welfare Association (OGAOWF) of the gated community in the GST colony have decided to conduct a relay hunger strike. Besides, they will raise the black flags on Sunday. Actually, the residents planned to protest on Saturday itself and they postponed it to Sunday on local police request. There are over 2000 voters in the community and they all are irked over the Pallavaram municipality and TN Pollution Control Board for failing to address the issue. The association said that it has to spend about Rs 12,000/- per day for water tankers and alleged that the builder failed to respond repeatedly to solve the issue. So, they planned this protest and the police interfered asking the builder to resolve the issue. Meanwhile, the officials said that water pipe connections will be completed by April 13 and clarified that any issues with STPs will be checked and rectified. At the same time, a municipal engineer stated that many are not paying the property and water tax. 'We have written to Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board and we will act accordingly.' said the engineer.
