Due to the increase in prices of the ingredients such as edible oil and pulses, the hoteliers in Chennai are mulling over hiking the prices of eatables in the city. The president of Tamil Nadu Hotels and Restaurants’ Association expressed that there is no other option left but to increase the rates at least by 10%.
Furthermore, the Hotels Association President also revealed that 1500 small hotels and restaurants shut their business due to the pandemic. ‘The price of gas has increased by Rs 300/- per cylinder. Earlier we used to get it for Rs 1500/- and now we are paying Rs 1800/- per cylinder.’ said the Association President.
So, it has become tough for hotels and restaurants to survive without increasing the prices of food items. However, there is some respite for Idly lovers. Because the price on idlies may not be increased as they are already priced at Rs 30/- per plate.
Meanwhile, the Chennai Tea Shop Owners’ Association has stated it has decided not to increase the price as of now.
