The Integrated Development of East Delhi Hub has picked up the pace. Known as Delhi’s first Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), the project will have residential and commercial green spaces spread in 37.42 hectares. This will be built at a cost of INR 1168 crore.
Apart from housing the biggest residential complex, the mixed-use project will have complexes within walking distance and will be connected to Karkardooma metro stations. Besides, it will also have schools, dispensaries, a library, a cultural centre, community halls, convenient shopping, community spaces, creche and etc.
The DPR of the project will be tabled in Delhi Development Authority's meeting on Thursday and the same will be sent to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for approval.
Actually, the TOD project to integrate sustainable development and transit facilities like the metro was notified in 2015 itself. But, it did not take off due to objections from the public.
Finally, the project is reviewed by DDA following the centre's direction and it will be completed with time-bound deadlines once the Union Government approves the DPR.
