In view of the rising Corona cases in the city, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar issued fresh orders making wearing masks mandatory in public places, workspaces and public means of transport. These orders are applicable across the state. The GO further restricts public gatherings, congregations, rallies and processions that take place during the upcoming festival season as well.
These strict orders are issued to contain the rapid spread of the coronavirus. Those who violate these norms will be prosecuted under sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act and Section 188 of IPC and other applicable laws.'
As public gatherings will rapidly spread the virus, it is decided that public celebrations are banned during the festivals such as Shab-e-Barat, Holi, Ugadi, Rama Navami, Mahavir Jayanthi, Good Friday, Ramzan, etc till April 30.' stated the Chief Secretary.
The Government issued the orders to all District Collectors, Commissioners and Superintendents of Police in the State.
