The Covid cases are exponentially increasing in Hyderabad for the last ten days. Sero surveillance recently reported that one in two living in GHMC limits is infected with the virus and hinted at herd immunity. However, there is a significant surge of cases that is worrying the officials.
Rapidly increasing from June and July last year, the caseload was maximum in August. Similarly, the officials are predicting that the present surge will continue till June. 'If the people won't stick to the Covid norms, there is every possibility of a second wave in Hyderabad too. ' said a top Professor of Administrative Staff College of India.
Furthermore, it is said that there will be a rapid spread of the virus in a densely populated city like Hyderabad. Moreover, the city is also a business hub and several people come to the city from other states. So, health experts stated that people should be more careful this time around by wearing masks and maintaining social distance.
Director of Medical Education, Dr Ramesh Reddy clarified that it is every individual's responsibility to strictly adhere to Covid norms. At the same time, he stated that the Health Department is prepared to tackle any situation.
