MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao directed a sanitation drive in the city. Following the instructions, Mayor Vijayalakshmi inspected Charminar and Khairatabad zones on Sunday. During her sudden visit, she went around several garbage dumping points at Mehdipatnam and Karwan. And the newly elected Mayor observed that the sanitation works are not being carried out properly in these areas and she expressed her displeasure with the sanitary workers.
Besides, Vijaalakshmi warned the sanitary workers for not clearing the piling up trash in regular intervals. Earlier, Minister KTR has instructed the GHMC to ensure that the garbage dump is cleared from the city within four days. He even asked the officials to hire and engage additional vehicles, dumpers and tippers to complete the task on a war-footed basis.
But, Mayor found that the drive is not going according to the Minister's directions. Above all, she was shocked to see a one kilometre long stretch of garbage piled up at the Vijayanagar colony in Mehdipatnam. Moreover, the poor attendance and the response of several GHMC officials made her furious.
Hence, she warned the civic body officials sternly asking them to clear all the garbage immediately and keep the city clean.
