The Telangana Government has announced that it will provide the Covid-19 vaccine free of cost for all the residents in the state including those from other states as well. CM KCR has taken this crucial decision and the vaccination drive will start at the earliest. Besides, it is also reported that the Chief Minister will personally follow up on this drive.
Tentatively, the government has decided to vaccinate at least 10 lakh people each day. About 35 lakh people are vaccinated in the state and it is expected that there could be another 4 crore people of all ages that need a vaccine jab. So, it will take about a month or 40 days to immunise the entire state.
Meanwhile, KCR who is battling Covid himself has reportedly stated that he will chair a special meeting over this after he gets tested for his condition in 2-3 days. It is said that the Chief Minister also spoke with Bharat Biotech Chairman over-vaccination drive and he instructed the officials to ensure there is no shortage of oxygen and Remdesivir in the coming days.
The government has estimated that it will cost around Rs 2,500 crores for the free vaccination drive.
