With different ways to make travel to the airport as hassle-free as possible, the South Central Railway's General Manager, Gajanan Mallya, recently met with the officials of GMR groups to discuss a possible MMTS route to the RGIA.
Initially, the GMR officials did not show much interest in having an MMTS platform at the airport, so the SCR had their MMTS plan towards Shamshabad limited to Umdanagar only. However, after the latest meeting, the South Central Railway officials have already started creating blueprints of the proposed project after the full tour of the airport recently.
The route to the airport will be a part of the second phase of the MMTS project. The state government and railway authority are yet to finalize the budget and approve the routes. The General Manager of SCR also clarified the current functioning of the MMTS trains that were halted due to the second wave but are now running in a phased manner with only 55 MMTS trains and 85 passenger trains being operated. The SCR is also looking at Malkajgiri to be made into a station.
