Hyderabad
Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport now has a swank hang-out place right within its premises. India’s first airport brewery, Barley & Grapes (B&G), opened its doors to the city at RGIA Aero Plaza. It was launched on March 13 with a few known bloggers wining and dining as Hyderabad’s favorite band, Threeory, played on.
B&G is the baby of Meghna and Sridhar Vakada, and as the name suggests, the place is for both beer and wine lovers. Their first cafe opened in Bengaluru in 2013, and with four locations already there, B&G opened its microbrewery in Hyderabad.
It’s very exciting to venture into Hyderabad and to be the first microbrewery at an airport, shares Sridhar Vakada. With people of the city seeking new experiences and cuisines and the growth in the recent past, the couple decided on this particular venture. Also, since it happens to be Sridhar’s birth city, it was like an icing on the cake for him.
The cafe offers a collection of The Beatles-themed craft beers called The Beertles. The place is surrounded by 300 plants that specialize in absorbing toxins and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere. The cafe has a big indoor and outdoor seating area, as well as enough capacity to accommodate concerts and gigs.
