Hyderabad
Think food, and there was a time when many thought of DLF food street in Gachibowli. But two years of pandemic sent the business of many into losses. For starters, many had to shut down as there was no IT crowd, and due to the lockdowns, people did not travel to eat from their favorite stalls and eateries.
The street that has now become a gastronomical landmark in the city is full of easy-on-the-pocket eateries and bandi wallahs. From burgers with momos to coconut kiwi shakes, the place offers a wide variety of foods. There is both south Indian and north Indian cuisine available, including fusion foods. Punjabi foods, chaat, foods with Mughal spices, shawarmas, kebabs, Italian cuisine, including a range of pizzas, different kinds of Maggi noodles, Frankies, mocktails, and Tandoori chai are all available here.
There are also stalls experimenting with various foods like butter idli, Tawa bonda, etc. With the pandemic and all the restrictions, almost all of them went out of business. The years 2020 and 2021 were tough on them, and the street was literally empty.
But now, the street is bustling with activity once again. The specialty of the street is that you get good into the wee hours. Even when many bandis are closed, they operate here nearly till morning. Also, all food is pocket-friendly, and food is served hot and cooked right in front of our eyes.
Now, the eatery owners and bandi wallahs are a happy lot as the business is brisk and techie customers and their old customers from all corners of the city are back to visiting them regularly.
