The High Court has become serious about the Telangana government. The High Court was outraged that the New Year celebrations were not banned in the state even though the second wave of Corona is likely.
Questioning why New Year celebrations were not banned, the High Court took the media articles as Sumoto and expressed surprise over the permission given to bars and wine shops to remain open till 1 pm by the state excise department.
“On one side, the state medical and health department has been sounding high alerts over the possibility of the spread of new variant of Coronavirus from UK-returnees. On the other side, you allow the indiscriminate opening of bars and wine shops? Why is the government so indifferent to the impending danger?” the court questioned.
The High Court also mentioned how the New Year celebrations have already been banned in Rajasthan and Maharashtra. The government has said it has advised people not to celebrate. The High Court asked the government to take the toughest measures to avoid public gatherings and nuisance. It has asked the government to submit a comprehensive report on the measures taken. The next hearing is posted to January 7th.
