States like Rajasthan, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh have reported the outbreak of Avian Influenza, popularly called the Bird Flu. The governments in those states are culling the birds wherever the flu is reported.
Telangana Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav conducted a Review meeting on Wednesday regarding the same. The officials have reported that there is no trace of Bird flu in the state, and there is nothing to worry about. The officials were asked to educate the farmers to report any unusual and sudden death of birds to the Government. Special teams were also formed to do field inspections and report any such outbreaks.
On the other side, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) say it is absolutely safe to consume chicken when it is boiled or cooked at high temperatures (above 70 degree Celsius). However, they say the birds dead due to the flu should not be consumed.
