GHMC has set up a large number of toilets in the city with an aim to provide luxury free loo for the public. These toilets have already become redundant as most of the newly constructed toilets are damaged by miscreants and toilet equipment including commodes go missing.
Officials who have taken this seriously have directed all officers to lodge police complaints about theft of toilet equipment. They were disheartened by the fact that almost everything - pipes, taps, water tankers, commodes, and flush doors, which were newly arranged, were stolen at many places.
The officials are now undertaking repairs and are installing new equipment. They are also going to constantly monitor the maintenance of public toilets. "Nothing works. Unless there is a behavioral change in the people. Our city is changing for good and if such things happen, we do not deserve them. No monitoring can change that," Suresh Kumar, a resident of Hitec City says in anguish.
