In July 2020, a Cyberabad-based Non-Governmental Organisation had launched the "Free Last Ride Service" program to serve those who died of dreadful COVID19, irrespective of their creed or caste. NGO named "Feed the Needy" has launched a cremation facility for the patients who died due to COVID-19.
After the COVID death cases died down, this service was stalled in the month of December. But as the second wave of the pandemic is at its peak, the NGO has restarted this service. The sources report that Feed the needy has started its free last ride service again in view of increasing cases and requests from the affected people.
The pandemic has put across several challenges and the biggest one of them is the cremation of the deceased COVID patient. It can be realized how difficult it is to have a cremation for a COVID patient who died in a hospital, nobody is available to cremate the body, with family members in quarantine.
Feed The Needy has started an ambulance service for deceased COVID cases and takes care of the cremation as well even if family members are not present. It is a free service that tries to serve all communities irrespective of religion, caste, and creed.
