The Greater Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad(GHMC) has announced that all the wine shops, bars, pubs, slaughterhouses, chicken, meat, fish, and beef shops will be closed on Sunday. The meat lovers and tipplers might fear that this decision might be due to the rapid spike of Covid positive cases. No, it is not the case, the meat shops will be closed as a mark of respect to Mahavir on his birth anniversary.
The majority of non-vegetarians love to eat meat with the entire family on Sundays. Endless beelines will be formed at the non-veg markets to get fresh minced meat or some delicious variety of fish. So, the civic body's announcement disappoint several of them.
Last year, when the lockdown was announced, the consumption of chicken and meat came down drastically due to the fear of contracting Corona. Hence, the chicken was sold at a nominal price of Rs 50/- per kg. Even then, there were not many takers with the initial fears.
However, the government dismissed those claims. Besides, CM KCR and KTR also smashed those theories by stating that eating chicken and eggs will boost immunity. After that, the prices shot up and consumption also restored to its normal levels.
Anyways, today, the GHMC has directed the concerned officials to see that all these shops strictly adhere to the instructions on Sunday i.e. 25th April.
