Given the present situation, medical shops and pharmacies are facing a new problem and this time it is the non-availability of surgical masks. The demand for masks has gone up sharply and people are flocking to shops for bundles of masks and sanitizers.
The medical shop owners share that the distributors are unable to meet the demand as masks and sanitizers are being stocked by people fearing unstable situations in coming days. The demand is too much and supply is short, say pharmacist associations.
There is also an increase in the cost of three-ply surgical masks, reveal chemists. While they were being sold at Rs 2 in the past, they are now selling at Rs 3 and Rs 4 at most shops.
