Early closure of shops and small establishments due to COVID restrictions has taken a heavy toll on businesses as many traders complain that closure restrictions have taken away their prime business leading to losses. The traders feel the government has failed to have a plan of action despite the virus being around for one year.
Most business owners feel that government does not have a crisis despite the virus being around for a year. They say a lockdown hasn’t helped mitigate the situation. If lockdowns were successful, then the cases wouldn’t be increasing, they rue.
Also, the restriction timings are odd they say. The shop owners point out that people don’t come in during peak hours due to summer and since there is a curfew between 7 pm and 9 pm. When the national lockdown was imposed, it became difficult to even survive, they say. Many survived on savings and when the lockdown lifted, the business was almost non-existent and the same trend has continued into 2021.
Just when one thought things were getting back to normal, restrictions were imposed again leading to distress among people. They are left wondering as to who will clear their debts. Many feel it is the failure of the state government in being unable to address the issue.
