Last year, the government of Telangana issued GO 46, ordering schools not to hike school fees and to collect tuition fees monthly. With the GO not in effect anymore, schools have gone back to charging a quarterly fee, and some schools have even hiked their fee for the 2021-22 academic year by 10-15%. A late fee is also being charged in case parents are not paying the fee on time.
An international school in the Rangareddy district has reportedly increased the fee by 10% this year and is also said not to provide a monthly fee payment option. Parents are requesting the state government to issue GO 46 and make sure that schools do not hike their fee or levy late fee this year instead of just issuing the order.
On the other hand, several schools have chosen not to increase their fee, considering the current Coronavirus situation in the country and the state.
