Vaccine maker Biological E is expected to roll out 75-80 million doses of its vaccine every month from August. While the company's managing director did not reveal full details, she said that they are aiming to make Biological E's vaccine one of the most affordable vaccines in the country. She said that the company has been making vaccines even before the coronavirus pandemic and that they have supplied several vaccines to many countries that needed them at lesser prices.
Biological E is collaborating with the National School of Tropical Medicine (NSTM) at Texas-based Baylor College of Medicine to develop this vaccine. This vaccine is modeled after the hepatitis-B vaccine and uses traditional technology for manufacturing its vaccine, which would help the cost of the vaccine be less.
Bio E is quite confident about producing 75-80 million doses in a month, and the concerned officials said that they have already ramped up the production and that they have all the resources handy to be able to meet the requirement. Given that the pricing of the SII's vaccine pricing caused a lot of political heat in the country, officials at Bio E assure that such a thing wouldn't happen with their vaccine.
Once Biological E's vaccine is out, the shortage of vaccines in the country is expected to be significantly solved. Biological E's vaccine is currently in its third phase of trials.
