While the whole medical fraternity and law enforcement are focusing on reducing the virus in the state, the road accidents in the city limits and outside the city limits are slowly increasing at a noticeable rate.
A city police officer succumbed to a road accident in a tragic incident and unfortunately died alongside his wife on the spot. His 7-year-old son was the lucky one escaping the tragedy unhurt. The officer is identified as S Laxman, working for the Sultan Bazar Police station. The family was driving back to Suryapet Late Friday night. The inspector's wife, who was driving near Abdullapurmet, hit a parked lorry from the backside, and their car was close to being crushed, resulting in the loss of lives of the couple in the front seats. After receiving information from passersby, the Abdullapurampet police reached the spot and identified the officer and shifted the bodies to the Osmania General Hospital for further post mortem. The child is taken care of by the relatives during this time.
The lorry drivers who parked the vehicle at a difficult juncture have been taken into custody. Further investigations and a detailed view of the accident are still to be known.
