The Balanagar flyover construction, undertaken by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) at the cost of about Rs 387 crore, is nearing completion. Even though the lockdown is in place, the construction work of the flyover is being facilitated and expedited.
Balanagar is one of the busiest areas in the city. Although flyover construction has to be undertaken here for many years, the project has been ignored for many years—finally, the project kickstarted in 2017. Telangana Government has taken it as a part of its Strategic Road Development Project (SRDP).
The Government has acquired huge parcels of lands and other assets for the construction of the flyover, which is about a kilometer and a half long. The flyover is being built at Rs 387 crore, of which Rs 265 crore is for land acquisition. Currently, the works are in the final stages. By the first week of June, HMDA will complete all the construction works, and preparations are underway to launch the flyover on June 15th. Once opened, it will facilitate the smooth flow of traffic on the Balanagar main road, and motorists can crossover to Narsapur and Fathenagar T junction.
