Getting bored due to lockdown? Want to go out and stroll around the city? Well, just about everyone feels like that as the situation has been disturbing for nearly two years now. But this urge has led some to indulge in extremely cheap thrills.
Some are borrowing Swiggy and Zomato T-shirts from friends to go around the city. After noticing this, the cops have caught some, and when questioned, they said they wanted to go around the city. Neither did they have any orders, nor did they have proper identification. So the cops booked a few of them under Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of IPC.
Standing in the hot sun and checking out all those passing by has become a tedious task for the police. People they say are coming up with the vaguest of the reasons to bypass the lockdown guidelines and loitering around, just for fun. The commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda, are having to deal with absolutely silly cases day in and day out.
While some claim they are going to buy medicines without a prescription, at times forwarded on WhatsApp message, others claim that they are returning after visiting relatives in hospitals. Some others claim they are sick and are on the way to a clinic or hospital.
The staff and top cops are totally disgusted as there is no way to prove if a person is sick or not.
And then there are couples who just want to go out for fun. When one such couple was stopped, they said they came out for fresh air, and the cops had to let them go as the lady was supposed to feed her newborn child.
Every day, about 5000 to 5200 cases are being booked, while Cyberabad and Rachakonda police are booking at least 1000 cases daily.
