Telangana Government has been vaccinating some groups of people in the name of super spreaders. These people get into contact with a vast number of people daily as a part of their profession. The super spreaders group includes auto and cab drivers, LPG cylinder distributors, Kirana shops, fruit and vegetable vendors, workers at meat and chicken shops, salons, and journalists.
Accordingly, the state government has set a target of vaccinating 7.55 Lakh beneficiaries. But then, the vaccination is not happening on expected lines. While the vaccination is happening at a decent pace in the cities, the drive is totally slow in the rural areas of the districts.
The government vaccination centres in the rural areas do not have the game plan to carry out the vaccination drive to the super spreaders group. Also, there is a severe shortage of vaccines in the rural areas for most of May. "The pandemic is not over until most population is vaccinated. There is no use of vaccinating only in Hyderabad because the city will have a huge influx of people from the remaining districts every day. So, the government needs to revamp its strategy about the vaccination for the super spreaders.
