Telangana has put an overwhelming performance in the IT growth despite the pandemic. The state nearly recorded a 13 percent growth in IT and ITeS exports at over Rs 1,45,522 crore over last fiscal, according to the annual report on IT, Electronics and Communications Department for FY21 released by IT and Industries KT Rama Rao.
During the last fiscal, Telangana added 46,489 new jobs taking the total IT/ ITES employment to 6,28,615, a year-on-year increase of 7.99 percent compared to FY 2019-20. It was Rs 1.28 lakh crore in FY20. The state has seen more than double the estimated average national growth rate during this period.
The state has seen marquee companies like Amazon Web Services, Goldman Sachs, and MassMutual arriving in the last year. The report also claims that Amazon Data Services is setting up three Data Centres in Fab City, Pharma City, and Chandanvelly in Telangana with an investment of Rs 20,761 Crores (USD2.77 bn).
The number of IT/ITES jobs in Telangana doubled to 6.28 lakhs in 2020-21 from 3.23 lakhs in 2013-14. IT exports grew to Rs 1.45 lakh crore from Rs 57,000 crore during the same period. These numbers indicate the IT boom after Telangana statehood is attained.
