Vaccination for the ongoing covid19 pandemic through the two available vaccines, Covaxin developed by Bharat Biotech and Covishield developed by Serum Institute of India, is coming up with new developments and its effects covid immunity.
However, extensive studies and journals about the more profound subject of vaccination are studied, and more information is yet to be out in future. AIG hospital in the city recently published their study on 260 healthcare workers with the Covishield vaccine. This test was conducted to find out the immunological memory response to the administered dose to these workers.
These health care workers were vaccinated in January and February, and the result of their response has been published in the International Journal of Infectious Diseases, a world-renowned journal on healthcare and lifestyle. The outcome of the vaccinated workers infected with the virus earlier showed a greater antibody response to the virus with only a single dose compared to those who never contracted the virus.
In addition, the memory cells that evoke through the vaccination were higher in those infected and vaccinated people compared to the vaccinated non-infected group. The study at AIG sort of proved that the vaccinated given in the gap of 3-6 months post-recovery has shown a more significant response than those who never got an infection but took two doses of the vaccine.
Dr Nageshwar Reddy, chairman at AIG hospital and one of the journal contributors, has exclaimed the need for only one against two doses, a current mandate. The chairman also hinted that the government must ramp up the current number of people getting the first dose to understand herd immunity and whether or not the same result can be achieved in a more significant number of vaccinated people.
