Vaccination drive has been picking up speed in the city as Covidshield is among the most vaccines administered to people in the city. While Covaxin is still in its closing stages of immunology trials and Sputnik V is still under distribution, the vaccine drive for the second dose is turning out to be a low-key affair with focus on first dose for 18+.
Instead, it is becoming an issue for those who took their vaccine without registration on Cowin. The current scenario of nearly 15,000 people who took their jabs through drives or through back door arrangements and many other ways where registration is not required are approaching the time for their dose 2, and the dose 2 is not available at large.
This case is especially happening for those who took their vaccine in early May, as the state had the bare minimum of vaccines. These 15,000 odd back doors vaccinated people because their data of being vaccinated cannot be found on the government portal. The absence of this crucial data will not generate a fully vaccinated certificate which will not count them under the people not vaccinated.
After hearing the plight of these people, the members who got their jabs through vaccination drives recollected that they hadn't registered either but got a certificate and contacted the hospital. They were cleared that their details are totally enrolled in the government portal and that they will be eligible to apply for a second dose when it is time and download their completion certificate.
