The state government has decided to act upon government officials who are being lethargic or delaying several works. The government will also crack its whip on corrupt officials pretty soon, according to highly placed sources. For the same, the state government has appointed a top bureaucrat to look into the matter. It is said that the officer in charge has already spoken to heads of several departments which are under the radar and asked for written explanations as to why projects or plans got delayed.
The government claims that the officials have been lax and not performing to their optimum despite most of the processes being online these days. Also, the level of corruption is said to be rather high in some departments.
To curb and control such practices and to punish the officials who are responsible for delays in moving files and taking up of public works, the government has decided to suspend or transfer officials who are found guilty.
Many have claimed that work got delayed due to the pandemic. However, the in-charge has decided to make sure that the tasks be completed at the earliest. If not, the first step would be suspension, the second step would be a deduction in salaries, and if nothing works, then the officials will be transferred to other districts.
However, the officials on their part complain that the government is trying to cover up its failures by taking action on officials who are working despite the pandemic.
