Like every year, the Ganesh Utsava Samiti has come forward to set up a statue of Ganesha in Khairatabad. On this occasion, the members of the Ganesh Utsava Samiti performed 'Karra Pooja' to set up a statue of Ganesh. It was a low-key affair due to the Pandemic. This year in Khairatabad, Ganesha will be giving Darshan to the devotees as the Ekadashi Rudra Mahaganapati with ten heads.
On the occasion of Nirjala Ekadashi, the organizers' committee of the festival on Monday conducted a Karra Pooja for the construction of a shed at the Ganpati pranganam. Sculptor Rajendran and festival committee chairman Singari Sudarshan said that the Ganesh this year will be made as Ekadashi Rudra Mahaganapati as per the suggestion of Gauribhatla Vithala Sharma Siddhanti.
This time, Ganapati is expected to be 27 feet tall. The 66-feet tall idol was the biggest ever Utsav Samithi had installed in the last 65 years. So, this year's Ganesh will be significantly smaller. The festival committee said the decision on the height is made keeping in view the police clearances and corona effect. Ganapati will be ready by September 10.
Like the last year, there will not be a procession on the eleventh day and devotees will have to be satisfied with darshan from home online. Only committee members will be present for the spot immersion. Last year, despite the COVID-19 impact, around 40 lakh devotees had visited the temple and the Ganesh idol at Khairatabad over 10 days.
