There are indications that the first dose vaccination will be discontinued once again in the state. Officials are considering stopping the first dose due to the high number of people who need to take the second dose while the availability of the vaccine is low.
From the 22nd of this month till the end of July, there are 34.76 Lakh people who need to take the second dose. The Union Health Ministry on Monday informed the state health department that 31.75 lakh vaccine doses would be sent to Telangana in these 40 days. State Health Director Srinivasa Rao informed the government that there would be problems with the first dose and that only the second dose could be given.
It is learned that the government has also responded positively to stop the first dose in the wake of a shortfall in vaccine doses. We may see the government stopping the administering of the first dose starting from July 1st. Meanwhile, there are reports that the government is planning to include teachers in a high-risk group and vaccinate them on priority since the schools are allowed to function.
