In times when just about everyone is bitten and smitten by wanderlust, doing a course in hospitality, tourism and facilities management only sounds apt. Hyderabad's National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM) has announced courses for the forthcoming year. While there is a two-year MBA in tourism and hospitality, there is a four-year BBA in tourism and hospitality and a BSc in hospitality and hotel administration programmes for the academic year 2021-22.
The MBA and BBA programmes in tourism and hospitality are being offered under the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad affiliation. The BSc in hospitality and hotel administration will be under NCHMCT and IGNOU affiliation.
The tourism courses will give the students an overview of the running of tourism agencies and also teach them the wherewithal of business management, finance, accounting and marketing, etc. They will go on to find employment in directorates and departments in the centre and states besides in private sectors like in a travel agency, hotel, airline, transport agency or cargo.
The institute’s top recruiters include Thomas Cook, Marriott, Trident Hotels, Lemon Tree Hotels, Hyatt, Avasa, Hilton, Novotel, Accor Hotels, TCS, Raddison, Air India, Air Asia, The Westin and Sheraton, among others.
Students will have to take UGAT, JEE-NCHMCT, ATMA-UG, EAMCET or equivalent. Else an analytical writing test will be conducted by NITHM. On the other hand, students have to clear CAT, MAT, ATMA, ICET or equivalent analytical writing test followed by an interview for BSc in hospitality.
