The vaccination in Hyderabad is in a race against time as the city records the highest number of jabs given in the state in a single day. The significant aim of the government is to vaccinate everyone in the state before the third wave hits, which is closing in soon.
Hyderabad has finally hit the one-crore mark after nearly five months since vaccination has begun. Though the state and Hyderabad lost the potential month of May without any concrete numbers of jabs, the state has picked up super fast as 1,18,28,577 people have been given the jabs. Among them, 1,00,76,583 have been administrated the first dose, while 1,751,994 have completed two doses.
Though the state is inoculating 2 Lakh people per day, it is still short of 1 Lakh people as the state can only vaccinate 2 Lakh out of the 3 Lakh registered people due to the shortage. The number of people above 18 in the state is more than 2.6 crore, out of which only 31 percent of people have taken the dose one, and a low percentage of 6.43% are fully inoculated.
The bigger numbers according to the third wave, deadline looks very grim, and the pace is close to that of a snail. The second dose, which is scheduled for this month, has to happen like a flash, as the current rate of jabs shows that even December 2021 is a tough ask for the entire city to get vaccinated completely.
