The Hyderabad Airport is changing every day as it braces for a future of easier and environmentally safer airport experience and builds a standard for airports in the country. The RGIA recently made a big development by reducing their requirement of mainstream electricity from the state government and adopted solar energy to run 50% of their airport.
The next big thing coming up at the RGIA is the expansion of rapid exit taxiways. Currently, the airport's runway capacity stands at 36 aircraft per hour, and the increase will see it move to 45 aircraft per hour. While planning the growth for the same, the rehabilitation work of major runways has also been completed, especially in the international terminal. The main aim of this expansion is to increase operational efficiency and accommodate more flights. The is a big move for the GHIAL is it stares at their reputation among the airports across the world.
The other big development that is happening is the switching of airside lighting ( all signal and runway lights) to an efficient LED bulb usage which is a significant contribution to a greener airport and less carbon emission. LED Lights installed boast better visibility and are highly efficient. Aeronautical Ground Lighting is part of the rehabilitation work.
