Knowing the address is not so easy in a growing metropolis like Hyderabad. It is hard to move from one place to another particularly for the newcomers. To permanently eliminate these problems, GHMC is going to set up Greater Street Signage Poles. Steps have been taken to set up 3,000 pillars in the Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFVOT) method in the six zones of the Greater at a rate of 500 per zone.
While five boards will be set up on each pole, the GHMC index will be at the top, four boards below will be allotted to private companies. Officials say the new approach will make it easier for commuters and will also be useful for GHMC to generate revenue. The signboard will be the first to show the route (indicator) and then the advertisements of the four businesses in the relevant area.
Businesses along the way can advertise their company and tell the customers how far their business is. They can set up a logo / brand-related to their company on the board. The rate will be decided by the agency that sets up the pillars. It will also help to know about popular tourist destinations, government offices and commercial establishments in a particular area.
These pillars are located at selected junctions. The top board above all that is on the pillar is reserved for the GHMC. Direction indicating the road, details of a government agency on that route, and important information that is helpful to all are placed on it.
