Slang Labs, an in-app voice assistant firm, has seen great potential in the local market and is upscaling to cater to companies across various verticals in Hyderabad. Slang Labs offers Voice Assistant as a Service (VAaaS) and has partnered with city-based Kisanwala to provide agritech solutions to farmers.
Right now, it is in talks with various retail and e-commerce companies and other sectors. The firm backed by city-based venture capital firm Endiya Partners raised $1.2 million in 2018 and has recently received an investment from the Google Assistant Investments program, along with 100s Entrepreneurs, Velu Murugan, Thomas George, and Endiya Partners. It is one of the first firms in its space to win Google backing.
Through Slang Lab’s technology, consumers can do online transactions in their apps through their voice and in a language of their choice such as English, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and very soon in Telugu too. Voice assistants have been integrated with P&G, Udaan, BigBasket, Redbus, Shine, and SpiceJet. The firm offers both pay-per-use and a flat-charge model based on predicted volumes. In the future, the company intends to enter the US and South Asia markets.
However, the firm uses its technology to even reach out to the hearing impaired by using voice augmented technology where visual/ text gets displayed so that the communication is not just voice-based. Constantly trying to upscale and upgrade its functionalities, Slang Labs is presently working on a solution where there is no need for a code. This ‘no code’ platform is going to the niche offering in the segment, avers Kumar Rangarajan, co-founder of Slang Labs.
