Vaccine centers are disappearing everywhere and the beneficiaries have to wait for hours at the centers to get their jab. Most vaccination centers in Hyderabad were closed. The lion's share of urban primary health centers in Hyderabad is not currently vaccinating people. Vaccination is now available only in community halls, function halls, government schools, and centers in some area hospitals under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
In the past, there were about 100 vaccine centers in Hyderabad, but now there are only fifty-four. All these are special drive vaccination centers run by the Department of Health under GHMC. Apart from these, vaccinations are also being given at King Koti Government Hospital, Nampally, and Malakpet area hospitals. The vaccination at the Fever Hospital has now been discontinued. While the number of Vaccination centers is reduced by half, crowds at the remaining centers have increased.
About 150 to 200 people are vaccinated daily at each center. It is also for those who have booked in advance. For those who come directly without registering, people are vaccinated in cases where the crowd is low. There is no prior information in the media about the vaccination centers. So, people have to keep coming and going back to check the stock. Moreover, there is no stock of Covaxin right now. The first dose is completely discontinued and only the second dose is given. Moreover, vaccination is done four days a week. The vaccine is not given on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
