The High Court has directed the Telangana government to take a permanent decision on the immersion of Ganesh Idols in Hussain Sagar. The apex court, headed by Chief Justice Hima Kohli, heard a petition filed by lawyer Venumadhav seeking a stay on Ganesh immersion in the Hussain Sagar.
The public prosecutor told the court that the immersion was not allowed last year because of COVID-19. The court asked if the government is allowing immersion this year. The lawyer pleaded that he is not aware of the government's decision. The bench opined that the Pandemic could flare up at any time and that the decision should be made in light of increasing cases.
The court also opined that it is not right to make a decision at the last minute every year and Hussain Sagar should be kept beautiful without pollution to attract tourists. The court adjourned the hearing till the 11th of this month, seeking information on the government's decision on Ganesh's immersion. Vinayaka Chaviti, this year falls on September 10th.
