The doctors in the city have been exemplary in their work and how they have helped thousands of people battle the pandemic and save people, especially mothers and newborns, from critical life and death conditions. Some of these operations are pretty breathtaking and speak a lot about the doctor's experience and the baby's or patient's strength to deal with it.
The recent miracle operation performed by doctors at Kamineni Hospital involved a 25-year-old who reached an advanced stage of her pregnancy at 36 months, and her preterm baby as a critical operation of cesarean hysterectomy saved their lives. The young mother had complained of placenta blocking the cervix, which is the narrow passage for the baby to pass through from the womb. This delayed the baby's delivery and created a risk for both the mother and the baby.
A team of experienced multi-disciplinary doctors, Dr. A Prasanna Latha, obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. RV Soujanya, pediatrician, and other urology, anesthesia, and neonatology specialists came together and examined the whole situation. They concluded that cesarean hysterectomy was the only way out, and the doctors removed the uterus at the C section.
The operation spanned over three and a half hours, and the team of doctors successfully delivered a preterm female baby weighing 2.59 kgs. The mother took 24 hours to recover, and the baby was breastfed and is completely normal. Doctor Prasanna one of the doctors who operated on this mother emphasized the mother's condition to be quite critical before the operation and how such cases are rising these days.
