Dengue cases are on the rise in the City. The number of patients coming to hospitals in the past one week is high. About 30 to 40 are recorded per day. As of yesterday, 415 cases have been registered in the GHMC limits this season. Dengue suspects are increasingly going to the Fever Hospital. If the cases in Government hospitals are like this, it may be more than double in private hospitals.
Cases referred from districts are also high. The incidence of dengue cases in private hospitals is unknown. They are admitted and treated as soon as it is positive. It is learned that the number of cases is not being reported. Doctors say dengue cases are coming as the prevalence of mosquitoes has increased in the last few days due to climate change.
Usually, dengue cases are reported in August and September every year. Last year, people did not come out of their houses because of the Lockdown. Also, they made sure that the home environment is clean and so Dengue is somewhat reduced. GHMC also focused more on fogging and immediately clean up the garbage. This has also ensured only 450 cases last year. Although there have been no major cases since the beginning of this year, the number of cases has risen sharply over the course of the week.
People are accusing the GHMC Entomology staff of not fogging in areas where mosquito infestation is high in the city. No immediate action is taken in areas where complaints are coming in against mosquitoes. The Department of Entomology has received 18,200 complaints so far this year, of which 8,296 are still pending indicating the negligence of the authorities.
