Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech has got another laurel in its cap. The company's COVID-19 vaccine, <a href="https://www.bharatbiotech.com/covaxin.html">Covaxin</a> has been given the emergency use approval by the Subject Expert Committee on Covid-19 for children in the 2-18 years age group. The company recently completed the Phase-2 and Phase-3 trials of the vaccine on children below 18 years.The trial data is submitted to the Drugs and Comptroller General of India (DCGI) in the first week of October. After the necessary verifications, DCGI has granted emergency use approval for the vaccine. Covaxin is the only vaccine allowed for the 2-10 age group in India.&nbsp;Zydus Cadila’s ZyCoV-D had previously received approved approval for all individuals aged 12 and above. Covaxin's emergency use in children is going to be a giant leap in India's efforts to combat the pandemic because that's the only way to get rid of the virus completely. India has so far fully vaccinated less than 30 crores of its 130 crore population.Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) has yet to grant Covaxin an emergency use authorization for Covaxin. Following delays in the process - the WHO had asked Bharat Biotech for additional trial data - a decision is expected next week.

Covaxin Gets Approval For Emergency Use In Children From 2-18 Years
