On August 22, GHIAL (GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited) recommenced direct air service from Hyderabad to Malé, Maldives. Indigo Airlines started this flight service. IndiGo flight 6E 8108 departed from GMR Hyderabad International Airport at 2.20 PM (IST) and will arrive at Maldives' Velana International Airport at 4.30 PM (IST). The return flight 6E 8107 from Malé will arrive in Hyderabad at 8.50 PM (IST).
From August 22, the flights will initially operate three times a week, Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, between GMR Hyderabad International Airport and Malé. From October 15, the frequency will increase to four times a week (Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday).
Amidst much fanfare, the aircraft took off from Hyderabad to Malé at the airport. Senior officials from Indigo and GMR Hyderabad International Airport, along with some airport stakeholders, were at the terminal to wish the crew and the passengers bon voyage.
According to Pradeep Panicker, CEO, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, with the direct flight service connecting Hyderabad and Malé, travelers from Telugu states can now enjoy the bright marine life with rich scenic splendors of the beaches of Maldives. He said that the hassle-free travel experience would attract nature lovers, holiday goers, and adventure junkies alike.
Mr. William Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo, said that the new service would cater to the hiked demand for international holiday travel demand from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He added that they are committed to providing an on-time, affordable, safe, and hassle-free travel experience onboard their clean, lean, flying machine.
