The city has seen a line-up of star hotels, pubs, service apartments, and upscale restaurants that have sprung up in the IT corridor in the last 5-6 years. This ironically is in stark contrast to the growth pattern seen in CBD or central business district, which includes the Begumpet-Punjagutta stretch.CBD was once where all the activity was, and it had places where the average Hyderabadi would want to be seen in. However, all that has changed in the past few years. Barely a few new places have opened in Begumpet in the last few years, and many have shut shop and moved to Hi-Tec city for better prospects.
According to Tabeer Osmani, associate partner of the now-famous Heart Cup Cafe, they had to shut their operations in Begumpet within two years after realizing that the crowd was traveling all the way to the Hi-Tec city and IT corridor for events, eating out, and clubbing. That’s when they decided to open a branch in Gachibowli in December 2020, where the business steadily grew.
Another happening place, AirLive, that’s in Jubilee Hills, for now, will be opening a new branch in a mall in Kondapur very soon. The owners share that people expect to be spotted in the western corridor of the city. Also, new crowds get added to the already existing one due to expansion in the IT sector. Naturally, that means new food habits, tastes, choices, and experiences. Hence, the owners decided to expand towards that zone.
But the biggest surprise is surely from the iconic 10 Downing Street, which was synonymous with Begumpet at one point in time. However, they too shifted their business to Gachibowli. In fact, according to Pranay Reddy, executive director of 10D, people in the area go partying even during weekdays, and the fact that there are four other outlets in their building does not affect their business one bit.
So, if you are looking for a swanky place or if you are looking for an ideal place to set up a business, then Gachibowli, Hi-Tec City, Chandanagar, and Kukatpally are ideal as there are about eight malls coming up in the belt.
