Osmania University, one of Hyderabad's most iconic buildings and a premium educational institution and the epicenter of Telangana's statehood struggle, has now decided that it will no longer associate itself with any celebrations for political leaders or student unions. Nor will it allow any political campaign or meetings in the Arts building.

The University played a vital role and was, in fact, the starting point of all the chaos and drama that went on during the TRS and their fight for statehood. The University that was supposed to grow and keep up with the standards of universities across the country as old or older dropped as there was nothing but political uprising for almost two academic years. The senior professors and other administration members have been bearing the glory of a great college comprised of political agendas.

The Vice-Chancellor of OU, Dr. Ravinder Reddy, decided to ban all the events mentioned above totally and took this decision in the presence of senior faculty and other board members unanimously and will not revoke it. The Vice-Chancellor noticed how the student and political groups have indulged in these events, stuck up celebratory posters, and destroyed the University's architecture.

The latter expressed the same during his Independence Day speech to the students. However, some staff members do not agree with this decision and feel that the students should realize that they need to take care of the campus.

The Vice-Chancellor and the board have identified alternative locations for students to indulge in political and union celebrations and have requested students to keep their celebrations away from the building. This ban aims to change the image of OU out in the world of being a promoter of everything except academic excellence and ensure the potent and excellent students are a part of the college.
