Cyberabad Commissioner VC Sajjanar has been transferred as the managing director, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation. He will be succeeded by Stephen Ravindra as the new Cyberabad police commissioner. Telangana Government's General Administration Department issued orders to this extent.
Sajjanar has completed three years as Cyberabad Police Commissioner and was recently promoted as Additional Director General. Sajjanar will be moved into a position that does not deal with law and order for the first time but the city will fondly remember the memories of his stint.
Sajjanar was a super cop as well as easily approachable. He has hit the headlines across the country after the encounter killing of the four accused in the gang rape and murder of a veterinarian (Disha) in Hyderabad. He was also the Superintendent of Police, Warangal district in 2008 where three men were killed in an encounter over their involvement in acid attacks on two young women.
Police claimed to have killed them when they tried to attack when taken for recreating crime scenes. But many believe it is instant justice and admires Sajjanar for them. Interestingly, the transfer has come days after the Supreme Court had directed the Telangana government to present its evidence related to the Disha case encounter before it on August 21st.
Coming to the usual policing, Sajjanar gave citizen involvement utmost priority during his stint. He cracked the whip on drunk driving. He also increased the patrolling during the Lockdowns and also encouraged plasma donation drives. Under his leadership, the IT employees under Society for Cyberbad Security (SCSC) actively participated in policing activities and various social activities. He will be missed.
