Hiring in India seems to be picking up at a fast pace, with the latest data suggesting that for the first time since the pandemic, the hiring is at a pre-pandemic level. The scenario is the same in Hyderabad as well, and those looking for jobs are heaving a sigh of relief thanks to the latest development. A report by Indeed points out that sectors such as information technology (IT), sanitation, and retail have been fuelling demand, with the IT sector seeing an increase of 19 percent between July 2020 and July 2021.
Interestingly, due to pandemic-induced digitization, job postings for IT roles such as project head and engineers saw an increase of 8-16 percent.
Another noteworthy development was the increase in demand for employees in hygiene and sanitization space. Indeed’s data reflected a 60 percent rise in demand for housekeepers, caretakers, housekeeping managers, custodians, executive housekeepers, and cleaners between July 2020 and July 2021.
The number of job roles in the food and retail sector witnessed an increase of 52 percent and 39 percent, respectively, while the demand for HR and finance roles grew by 27 percent each. It was also noted that there was a good increase in therapy jobs such as veterinary jobs. They saw an increase of 216 percent, while personal care, childcare, and dental jobs saw an increase of 155 percent, 115 percent, and 108 percent rise, respectively.
Another noticeable trend was the demand for food and retail jobs, indicating that the consumption economy will play an important role in pushing the job market further. Hygiene was surely a priority for both employers and job seekers.
