A 75-year-old man from Malkajgiri is winning accolades of all after he cycled 40 Kilometers in three hours. Pandey's wife, a retired railway employee, died a few months ago. He wanted to live as long as possible without feeling lonely. Pandey decided to do something about it. With this, the old man's focus shifted to cycling.
During this time, he participated in many cycling events organized in the city. He also took part in the Freedom Ride organized on the 15th of August this year. Thus Pandey gained good skills by participating in cycling competitions. On Sunday, he cycled from Safilguda Park to Charminar for an hour. Again from Charminar, he is able to reach Safilguda Park in two hours via Necklace Road.
Pandey covered 40 Kilometers in three hours. "My self-confidence has improved drastically after cycling. Youth should adapt to cycling and the onus is on them to reduce carbon footprint," he says. Pandey cycles for 40 minutes every day, walking six to seven kilometers. He also had knee surgery a few years ago. He takes tuitions to 7th to 10th-grade students for free. His wife used to take the tuitions and now, Pandey has taken the responsibility.
