For the past few days, the city has been witnessing heavy rains, and this has made the life of citizens miserable, to say the least. The condition of roads in many areas has turned pathetic, and the battered roads are giving a tough time to motorists.
Those commuting are finding it very difficult to brave the heavy rains on one side and the innumerable number of potholes on the other. Extensive waterlogging has created problems for people who have to go out for office or other work. In fact, rains have exposed the bad quality of the roads laid down by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other private agencies under the Comprehensive Road Maintenance Programme (CRMP).
In a rather distressful situation, there are thousands of roads with potholes making life miserable for commuters. Unfortunately, there is no solution at hand as the Met department forecasts heavy rains in the city in the coming days.
Non-stop rains have led to the peeling of the bitumen layer on the recently laid roads accentuating the problem. The potholes are filled with water, and this has led to stagnation in many places. However, road repair can be taken up only after the rains stop and dry weather prevails as bitumen layers get peeled off due to rains.
