Bharat Bandh call given by farmers protesting against the Narendra Modi government’s three farm laws on Monday has evoked mixed response in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. RTC Buses, cabs, auto-rickshaws, and other transport services were normal like every day.
But then, the vehicular movement and the movement of the people were largely less due to incessant downpour due to the Gulab cyclone in the Bay of Bengal. The State Government has put the people on High Alert due to the rains and the recent incident of a man getting washed away in open drainage has also pushed the people not to venture out unless it is necessary.
Despite the support of the trade unions to the bandh call, Shops and other commercial establishments have opened normally. In fact, there were no attempts for strict compliance even those supporting the bandh call. The situation is a breather for the Police department. They could fully concentrate the security around the Assembly in view of the ongoing monsoon session and did not deploy much force for Bandh duty due to the weather.
