The elite list of 100 billionaires in India has a few entries, and all of them are pharma and healthcare giants as their business shot up exponentially during two waves of covid19. While it is not new for healthcare giants to make it to this elite list, the chairman of Apollo Group, Pratap C Reddy, loves his experience as the health group makes its first entry and is now placed at 78th rank with an estimated wealth of 21,000 crores.
This figure is a 169% rise in their wealth since 2019. The state of Telangana has 63 billionaires and this year saw 15 of them enter the elite list. Most of these billionaires come from the city and are from healthcare, petrochemicals, and pharmaceutical backgrounds. Out of the 50 billionaires in Hyderabad, the IIFL Hurran India Rich List(IHIRL) has seen five new entries in the Top 100 list.
The founder of Hyderabad-based Divi-Laboratories, Murali Divi, is now the richest Hyderabadi and has jumped up three places from last year and is now the 14th richest Indian with an estimated worth of 79,000 crores. He moved up from 17th in 2020 to 14th this year due to his 61% growth in wealth.
With a growth of 88% this year, B Parthasaradhi Reddy and his Hetero Labs are worth 26,100 crores, is placed above the Apollo group in this year's list. The only billionaire from the city who didn't grow but still made it at 86th is PV Ramprasad Reddy of Aurobindo Pharma Group. His group fell from 22,600 to 19,000 crores. While this year saw entries in the elite list, the other billionaires like Dr. Reddy, who featured in this list in the past, did not make it to the top 100 this year.
