Technical and coding skills are becoming increasingly important in all fields. Private schools are taking special classes on coding skills for children from primary. City-based Learning Skills Foundation and Dell Technologies have jointly launched the coding training program with the aim of teaching coding to children in government schools.
Government schools have been training students on this coding subject since last year with the permission of the Department of Education. Currently, 50 schools in Greater Hyderabad are selected and classes are conducted online until July. Physical classes have started after re-opening. Coding class is conducted one day a week in selected schools. The resource person for NGOs goes and teaches the students. Teachers are also being trained.
NGOs carry out various activities to develop technical skills even for children studying in government schools. In addition to coding training, new concepts in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematical) are being taught to students. While the experts from the NGO go and conduct classes and train students in Theory and Practicals. Maths and science teachers in the Government schools, on the other hand, are also being trained. Training lasts from six months to a year. One day a week there will be a theory class in the morning and practicals in the evening. Classes are conducted according to the school timetable. Computer labs have also been set up in 20 selected schools.
