Weekend Getaways have become a terrible experience for youngsters, especially in the last few days. Almost six people lost their lives while indulging in some water sport here and there at different locations outside the city.
The most recent drowning incident involved a young software engineer named Rahul Penta,22, who drowned in the Kongala waterfalls in Vajedu Mandal of Mulugu district late Monday. Rahul is the six death that happened at a water body from Friday to Monday. One case of a man survived after irrigation officials saved him from drowning in the Manjeera river.
In another case, four guys from Borabanda who were on a visit to a dargah at Bidar and after their visit decided to go for a bath and fun time at a lake and even though none of them knew how to swim one of them began to drown and while going to save him the other three ended up the same.
An older saw his sibling washed away but couldn't do anything as a selfie attempt proved fatal at the Manjeera River as a strong current washed him away. The boys were residents of Towlichowki.
The thing one can notice through all the above deaths is. First, these boys were from an age group of 18-24, and none of them knew how to swim. While the authorities have not yet made a statement about what they intend to do about it, this makes it very clear for youngsters to be extremely cautious while taking selfies and prefer not to tread out during heavy rains for any road trips across the state.
